Early Life & Education

Rose Museo Mumo was born and raised in Makueni County, where she began her educational journey at Mary Cliff Primary School in Mombasa from 1968 to 1974, obtaining her Certificate of Primary Education (CPE).

She continued her secondary education at H. H. Aga Khan High School, Mombasa, from 1975 to 1978, where she earned her ‘O’ Level Certificate. She then enrolled at Southon’s Secretarial College in 1979, completing her advanced secretarial training (Pitman Certificate) in 1980.

Later in life, she pursued higher education while managing her political career, earning a Diploma in Social Work and Community Development from the Africa Regional Counselling and Training Institute in 2009, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Kenya Methodist University between 2014 and 2022.

Rose Museo began her professional career in 1982 at Action Aid Kenya, where she served as a Programme Officer for two decades until 2002, working with diverse communities in Kitui, Mutomo, Isiolo, Wamba, Maralal, and Samburu.

In 2002, she became Administrator at the Makueni Paralegal Coordinating Agency (MAPACA), offering community paralegal support, especially in matters of women’s rights and disputes until 2003. She later served as Director of the Children and Women Department for the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Central Kenya Conference from 2005 to 2012.

Her political career began when she was elected as the County Women Representative for Makueni in 2013 under the Wiper Democratic Movement Kenya. She has successfully defended her seat in three consecutive elections (2013, 2017, and 2022), making her one of the longest-serving women representatives in Kenya.

Throughout her parliamentary service, she has been a member of several key committees:
