Linet Chepkorir Toto was born on April 19, 1997, in Chemomul, Bomet County, as the firstborn child to Leonard Lang’at and Betty Lang’at in a family of four children. She grew up in modest circumstances that shaped her commitment to public service and community development.

She began her education at Kapsimbri Elementary School, where she sat for her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). She then joined Kapsimbri Secondary School before transferring to Siwot Secondary School to complete her secondary education.

Her campaign was largely sponsored by well-wishers and friends, as she came from a very humble background. Almost everyone rallied behind her—donating equipment, motor vehicles, and money. She was the underdog everyone wanted to see win.

In the August 9, 2022 General Election, she achieved a spectacular victory, bagging 242,775 votes and crushing her closest rival, Dr Alice Milgo of Chama Cha Mashinani, who managed only 43,180 votes—a staggering 199,595-vote difference. At just 24 years old, she became Kenya’s youngest Member of Parliament.
